The bar mid-rush on a Saturday night
Hospitality technology consultant · interim · fractional · advisory

Twenty years inside venues, writing the software they run on.

I’m a hospitality technology consultant: interim, fractional, advisory and written technical reviews. Both sides of the gap: seven very different venues, hundreds of staff, and the platform the whole operation runs on, built by hand. Operators ask me about software. Vendors ask me about operating.

If you build for this industry

I’ve been your customer. I’ll tell you what he’s thinking.

You have designers, engineers and a roadmap. What you don’t have is anyone who has run a bar at capacity and knows which decisions quietly cost your customers money. I can tell you what a duty manager will actually do at eleven on a Saturday. And I’ll be on the floor that night to prove it. I’ll happily get into the codebase and the infrastructure with your team too; I’ve run production platforms for twenty years.

What the gap costs →

If you run venues

Keep what works. Bin what doesn’t. Bridge the rest.

Nobody chose your stack. It accumulated. Four systems that don’t talk and someone re-keying between them every morning. I’ll tell you which to keep, which to bin, and what to build in the middle. Usually faster than you’d expect: I once replaced a ten-year stack in an afternoon.

Ways to work with me

Three shapes. All of them start with a call.

A few days a month

Fractional and advisory. Enough to set direction, unblock the hard decisions and stay close to what’s actually happening, without becoming another salary on your P&L.

Come in, fix it, move on

A defined problem with a defined end. A stack to consolidate, a migration nobody wants to own, a written review of the codebase, the servers and the backups, a product decision that needs someone who has lived it. Quick jobs welcome.

Describe the problem →

Interim leadership

A seat that needs filling properly while you find the permanent hire, or work out whether you need one. Technology leadership from someone who has owned the P&L too.

Next step

A 30-minute call costs nothing.

Tell me what you’re working on. If I can’t help, I’ll say so on the call and point you at someone who can.
